Deep in the heart of the river country lives Goorramindi, the wise and gentle freshwater crocodile, guardian of the water and all who live near it. When a young boy named Corey finds himself in the dangerous grip of Walwarranga, the big cheeky crocodile upstream, it’s up to Goorramindi to save the day. A tale of courage, friendship and respect for the ancient spirits of the river, this beautifully told story will captivate young readers and remind them that heroes can live in the most unexpected places.
Goorramindi the Crocodile honours the memory of Quinlan’s Jaja (Grandfather), Isaac Cherel known to many as Goorramindi. Gooramindi was a well-respected man within his community, a guardian and protector of his people. He was instrumental in the preservation of the Gooniyandi language, Lore and culture at Muludja Community.
